CATAGEN is a net-zero technologies company based in Belfast, whose purpose is to clean and decarbonise the air.
• Core Business provides GREEN emissions testing to global automotive manufacturers in the development of new vehicles and, more recently, for solid oxide fuel cells.
• Spin out from Queen’s University - patented Energy Efficient OMEGA technology replaces vehicle catalyst testing without consuming fossil fuels.
• Expertise in the mobility sector, deep domain knowledge and patented technology has led CATAGEN to develop net-zero technologies.
• Recently, CATAGEN received six funding awards from the UK Department of Energy Security and Net Zero to develop green hydrogen (not electrolysis), bio-hydrogen and e-Fuel generators, hydrogen compression and carbon capture technologies.
CATAGEN provides emissions testing for aftertreatment systems, replicating engines such as:
- Gasoline or diesel
- Hybrid powertrains
- E-Fuels, hydrogen, biofuels, ethanol and natural gas engines
CATAGEN is approved by Vehicle Certification bodies in the UK, Europe and Germany and has supported US manufacturers to gain accreditation there.
CLIMAHTECH
Harnessing this deep expertise, CATAGEN has developed ClimaHtech, an acceleration system towards decarbonisation using advanced climate technologies. It is a platform to generate green hydrogen, bio-hydrogen and gHreen e-fuels, with complementary carbon capture and hydrogen compression systems.
Energia Group is a modern and innovative energy company focussed on playing a significant part in the achievement of the energy transition on the island of Ireland. As a leading, long-term energy provider and infrastructure investor in Ireland, Energia Group continues to make progress on its €3bn Positive Energy investment programme, focussed on renewable energy projects. Ongoing projects include onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage, and green hydrogen, and it is anticipated this programme can add around 2.6 GW of additional renewable capacity to the system by 2030. This investment will facilitate the achievement of Government targets and keep momentum towards the overall objective of Net Zero.
Energia Group currently supplies approximately 17% of the island’s total electricity requirement, has over 828,000 home and business customers, and is responsible for approximately 20% of the installed wind power capacity. The Group also operates two efficient gas-fired power stations in north County Dublin with a combined capacity of 747 MW and is constructing a 50 MW emergency gas fired generator that together are critical to the security of national energy supply and will, for the foreseeable future, play an important role in providing necessary back-up to a growing amount of renewable generation.
2023 Bord na Móna is a climate solutions and renewable energy company that is supporting Ireland’s progress towards a climate neutral future. In line with its Brown to Green transition strategy, Bord na Móna is fully committed to the delivery of renewable energy, the development of low carbon enterprises, peatlands rehabilitation and sustainable waste management.
Bord na Móna has been serving communities across Ireland for almost 90 years. Today, the company is pioneering the expansion of its climate solutions and renewable energy offering to safeguard green energy supply for these communities in the future and support the achievement of Ireland’s renewable energy requirements by 2030. Bord na Móna’s ongoing portfolio expansion will build upon existing solutions, including the following.
• Bord na Móna is committed to the continued growth of its large-scale wind energy offering, adding to current onshore wind projects including Derrinlough, Cloncreen and Oweninny Wind Farms, as well as offshore wind developments like its Ocean Winds partnership.
• Green hydrogen is another key component of Bord na Móna’s renewable energy portfolio with plans in place to deliver the first green hydrogen plant in the Republic of Ireland at Mount Lucas
• Bord na Móna is also making progress in the solar energy space with the development of its Timahoe North Solar Farm progressing at pace
• The development of Bord na Móna’s Energy Park, located on its landbank between Rhode and Rochfortbridge, will see more than 200 MW of low to zero carbon electricity generation from a range of sources including wind, solar, biomass, and biogas. The park will also house energy storage facilities including battery and hydrogen.
• The rehabilitation of peatlands is a key priority for Bord na Móna as part of its Peatlands Climate Action Scheme (PCAS). The scheme involves the rehabilitation of approximately 33,000 hectares of the company’s peatlands, and aims to rehabilitate drained peatlands for improved climate, environmental, ecological and hydrological impacts – including the return of carbon storage that occurs naturally in wet peatlands, as well as restored biodiversity with the revival of various plant and wildlife species.
• Bord na Móna Recycling is responsible for providing customers with innovative and sustainable waste management options, from waste collection and processing to end-treatment solutions, with the goal of supporting national progress towards a circular economy.
• Leveraging biomass as a carbon-neutral energy source through its Edenderry Power Plant also forms part of Bord na Móna’s climate solutions offering, and the company will operate off 100% biomass from December 2023.
• Bord na Móna builds spaces for recreation, learning and discovery across the country which are open for local communities to enjoy and as eco-tourism hubs like its Lough Boora Discovery Park, consisting of 50km of walking and cycling trails, sculpture park and lakes for fishing.
• Bord na Móna also supports rising green innovators and businesses across Ireland through its dedicated Accelerate Green Programme. Since launching in 2022, the accelerator programme has provided training and mentoring to a growing network of businesses that are delivering innovative, climate-focused solutions for a range of industries across Ireland
